Rangers put pressure on Brandesburton from the whistle and it was not long
before they took the lead. The second goal was scored following a strong
run from midfield and a great finish by Chapman. Wardle then increased the
score a quarter of an hour into the game before Heathcote scored the first
of 4 goals in 4 minutes the latter scored by Keeping. The Rangers defence
of Hoyle, Wright, Ingram and Everett were rarely troubled by the Brandesburton
strikers and had many chances to push forward themselves with Rangers scoring
two more goals before the interval. The second half saw one way traffic
once again and a goal scored within a minute of the restart. Many chances
were then squandered before the goals started to flow again with Watson
netting from close range and Rennoldson and Christlow both completing their
hat-tricks. Late in the game Taylor in the Rangers goal made a fine save
one on one with a Brandesburton striker before Butterfield completed the
scoring with his seventh of the game.
