Bridlington Spartans 1 v 16 Bridlington Rangers

Rangers goal scorers: J Butterfield (5) S Wardle (5) T Keeping (3) J Hoyle (2) J Watson

This seasons first local Rangers, Spartans derby began with Rangers the livelier and they were rewarded with two goals in the first ten minutes. Spartans tried to reduce the arrears with a number of half chances being made but the Rangers defence of Ingram, Yhklef, Wright and Heathcote held firm and Taylor in goal dealt with any shots comfortably. Rangers then went further ahead before Spartans were awarded a penalty which they duly converted. Minutes later Rangers were themselves awarded a penalty which was struck low into the corner of the net. The second half saw Rangers attack from the whistle and they were awarded another penalty which was again converted. Within seconds of the restart Rangers won the ball and scored again. Rangers controlled the midfield with Rennoldson and Chapman and notched up another goal before Hoyle rifled in his second goal of the game which the keeper could only parry into the roof of the net. Two further goals were scored with the latter from Watson who struck the ball low into the corner of the net. A quick throw out by the Rangers keeper combined with three first touch passes ended in the first of six goals in the last ten minutes. Spartans heads dropped and Butterfield and Wardle both rounded off fine displays with five goals each before Keeping completed his hat-trick with Rangers final goal. This was an excellent all round team performance with everyone playing his part.
