Riley FC 1 v 11 Bridlington Rangers
Rangers goal scorers: S Wardle (3), J Christlow (3), J Butterfield, J Watson,
T Keeping,
A Rennoldson, J Chapman.
Rangers put pressure on Riley from the start and should have been a coupled of goals to the good in the first five minutes but it was Riley who opened the scoring on 8 minutes when they beat the offside trap. Rangers continued to pressure and levelled the score when Watson headed in from a corner. Butterfield increased the lead before being replaced due to an injury. Keeping scored an excellent solo goal and a further goal was scored before half time. Early in the second half Rangers were awarded a penalty which was duly converted and two further goals were scored in quick succession by Wardle to complete his hat trick. Taylor in the Rangers goal was called on once in the second half and he pulled off a fine one handed save to tip the ball over the bar. The defence of Heathcote, Wright, Ykhlef and Ingram dealt with the Riley strikers with ease and Rangers scored again before Rennoldson scored with a simple tap in following some excellent play by Everett down the right flank. Christlow then completed his hat trick when he outpaced the tiring Riley defence before Chapman rounded off the scoring with a strong run from midfield and a fine strike from the edge of the box.
