Sutton Park Raiders A 0 v 8 Bridlington Rangers

Rangers goal scorers:- S Wardle (4) J Butterfield S Mellonby J Chapman

Conditions were far from ideal for this encounter with a very strong wind and heavy rain blowing across the pitch. Rangers were quick to attack from the whistle and Butterfield opened the scoring within the first minute. Many chances were created and missed before Rangers went further ahead when a deep cross from the right was fired home from close range. Some excellent attacking football was rewarded with another goal on sixteen minutes and again five minutes later. Just before half time a long ball from Ykhlef found Keeping and his perfect through ball put Mellonby through and he neatly slotted the ball into the corner of the net. The second half saw Rangers ease off and allowed Raiders back into the game but they found it difficult to pass the defence of Heathcote, Wright, Bennett and Ingram. Watson was winning most loose balls in midfield and he released Rennoldson down the right flank and his cross was met by Chapman who volleyed in from 12 yards. Taylor in the Rangers goal was almost caught out by a long range shot but just managed to get a hand to it and turn around the post for a corner. Wardle who had caused problems down the left throughout the game won a penalty and converted it and then two minutes later scored his fourth of the game when he beat four players and then hammered the ball into the roof of the net from the edge of the area.

This was a well organised display to maintain our 100% league record.
