Bridlington Rangers 4 v 1 Middleton Puma's

Rangers goal scorers:- S Wardle (2) J Christlow S Mellonby .

Rangers playing with the wind in the first half found it difficult to down a stubborn Middleton defence and missed a number of great chances before taking the lead on 29 minutes when Rennoldson put Mellonby through and he slotted the ball neatly past the advancing keeper. Middleton found it difficult to penetrate the Rangers defence of Heathcote, Wright, Bennett and Ingram and rarely troubled the Rangers goal. The second half saw Rangers attacking from the whistle and they had two clear cut chances in the first minute but could not increase the lead due to poor finishing. Persistent attacks were rewarded as Wardle scored two goals in quick succession following some excellent play from Watson, Chapman and Keeping. Christlows pace enabled him to outpace the Middleton defence and round the keeper to net Rangers fourth. Middleton then had their best spell of the game and forced a spectacular save from Taylor before they netted a consolation goal with ten minutes to go. Rangers stepped up a gear and were unlucky not to score further goals before the final whistle.
