Bridlington Rangers 4 v 2 Northfield Dragons
The first league game of the season saw Rangers fielding a bare eleven with several position changes having to be made. Rangers were quick to close down the Dragons and were unlucky not to take the lead several times in the opening ten minutes. Rangers dominated the first half and hit the woodwork on numerous occasions and squandered many clear-cut chances. It was looking as if Rangers would never score but they took the lead just before the interval. Dragons however pulled a goal back on the stroke of half time. After the restart Rangers took the lead within 30 seconds and continued to pressurise the Dragons defence hitting the woodwork yet again before the Dragons again drew level. The Dragons keeper had an outstanding game but constant pressure by Rangers paid off when they took the lead with ten minutes to go. The victory was sealed with five minutes remaining and this rounded off a good all round team performance.
