Bridlington Rangers 14 v 0 Riley FC
Rangers goal scorers:-
S Wardle (4), J Butterfield (3), J Watson (3), J Chapman (2),
T Keeping ,S Mellonby.
From the kick off Rangers playing into a strong wind put pressure on Riley and missed a hatful of chances before going ahead after 9 minutes. Constant attacking football resulted in Rangers scoring four more goals before half time with the best from Keeping who volleyed in an Ykhlef cross from ten yards out. The second half saw Rangers playing quick passing football and Riley found it difficult to get a touch of the ball. The second half saw persistent pressure being applied by Rangers with full backs Ingram and Rennoldson attacking down the flanks and centre backs Wright and Bennett making surging runs with the ball. The bombardment on the Riley goal resulted in five goals in seven minutes with Watson completing a rare but well deserved hat trick, Chapman scoring his first of two goals with a shot from 40 yards that dipped under the crossbar and Mellonby finally getting the goal that had been eluding him throughout the game. Taylor in the Rangers goal was merely a spectator but the one touch he had from a back pass resulted in a five man passing movement which saw Christlow outpace the defence and cross the ball for Butterfield to complete his hatrick. Wardle rounded off a fine well disciplined team display when he beat three defenders and scored his fourth goal of the game.
