Brid Rangers U15's played in the Futsal
5 a-side league
in Hull at Warners Sports Medicine Ctr on Fri 20th sept.
This is a new league with a new type on 5 A-side football being played,
all the other teams started 4 games ago so Rangers went into this game a
little cold.
Game 1 v Beverley Tigers
AM Warkup sponsored Rangers did not let Beverley Tigers intimidate them
before or during the game, and even though there are 3 divisions separating
them at 11 a-side that did not show today. Rangers battled hard for every
ball and where almost rewarded when O'Gradys shot was well saved, Tigers
scored against the run of play but Rangers went close with an Ian Midgley
drive. Just before the break Tigers started to pressure Rangers and scored
2-0HT.
The second half saw Tigers score quickly and Rangers the moved up a gear
pulling a quick goal back from Danny Barry and then a second from O'Grady.
The half was very close until the last five mins when Tigers made it 4 and
then slipped in two goals in the last few seconds.
FINAL SCORE: BRID RANGERS 2 v 6 BEVERLEY TIGERS
Game 2 v Parkside Raiders
This was a fill in game as Parksides opponents didn't turn up so Rangers
agreed to play. Again the teams where separated by three divisions and in
this game too Rangers started strong Joe White and Micheal Harvey battled
hard and Andrew Clay in the Rangers net made some outstanding saves. Stuart
King and Alan Leyland worked hard up front but Parkside to a 2-0 lead. Rangers
Tom Parr then got a deflected goal and then worked well as a team to take
a 3-2 lead with goals from Barry and O'Grady. The game was stopped when
a Parkside player went down with a broken ankle. As the game restarted and
the second half drew to a close Parkside drew level and as Rangers legs
became tired they won the game.
FINAL SCORE RANGERS 3 v 5 PARKSIDE RAIDERS
Both of these games where played against teams in the top Division of The
Hull Boys League and so Rangers as a team did the themselves and Rangers
as a club proud, all the lads behaved exemplary in what was at times some
difficult conditions well played lads
