BRILDINGTON RANGERS U16’s
WYKE DIVISION LEAGUE CHAMPIONS
Graham Waters Plumbing Services and Scott’s Butchers sponsored Bridlington Rangers U16’s took the Wyke Division League title yesterday with an emphatic victory over Hessle Sporting Club.
Toady’s 5 – 1 win sees Rangers go four points clear in the League with only next weeks game against 2nd placed Cottingham Rangers to play. This is Rangers second League title in two years The game started evenly with both teams sharing possession, Adam Wright and Andy clay battled in the midfield and along with Jack Tye and Ian Midgley kept Hessle to long distance shooting which Stuart King dealt with in the Rangers net. Rangers attacking line up changed this week with Garth Young joining Rob Waters and he had an immediate impact netting rangers first from close range after a Waters assist . Rangers then began to win all the 50 – 50 balls and began to press Hessle and Waters hit the side netting twice. Following a foul on the edge of the box up stepped Jamie Osborne for a Rangers free kick 20 yards out and with a dipping and curling free kick he netted his first of the season and Rangers second of the day. Rangers Peter Jones and Tom Parr pushed up with the midfield to make the play more difficult for Hessle. Inevitably this pressure helped create Rangers third 5 minutes later when a scramble in the Hessle box following a long corner saw Garth Young net his second. Ht 3-0 to Rangers. The second half saw much of the same, but an early lapse saw a close offside decision allow Hessle in on goal and despite two fantastic saves from Stuart King the third shot couldn’t be stopped. Rangers regrouped and following a Hessle corner 4 passes saw Micheal Train, Ian Midgley and Jack Tye finally net Rangers fourth goal. With the game being dominated by Rangers Garth Young had the ball laid off again by Waters to the edge of the 18 yard box and with a first time shot he netted his first Rangers Hat trick and sealed the win for Rangers. Stuart King was only really tested twice in the match and when a 20 yard shot was destined for the top corner a full length dive saw him chip the ball over the bar to the applause from both sets of supporters. James Peacock and Micheal Harvey joined the game in the second half both working hard and Harvey almost scored himself when a strong run down the left saw his shot well saved.
Final Score:- Hessle Sporting Club 1 – 5 Bridlington Rangers
MOM: Garth Young for some fantastic goals and all round play.
