Brid Rangers Sharks U9’s 2 v 1 Driffield Warriors
The Sharks team was slightly
changed with Lawrence Pearson showing up very well in goal. The rest of
the team, for the first half, were not at the races against a good Driffield
side and were fortunate, due to good goalkeeping and the woodwork, to go
in at 0-0. The second half was a different matter with the team formation
being changed Sharks started to play the fluent football that they are capable
of. Dan Wilson dropped into the defence and made a solid foundation along
with Sam Jones. Caman Male, James Fletcher and Jon Pearce then started to
dominate the midfield and from some of the balls played through Lewis Grosse
tore the Driffield defence to bits. The ball was played from Jones to Pearce
who played a great ball to Grosse, who seeing the keeper off his line hit
a half volley which dipped over the keeper and into the roof of the net.
The Sharks now started to dominate the game and from some great play from
Male, Grosse stroked in the second goal. The Warriors came back at the Sharks
but with Fletcher and Pearce working hard, Jones and Wilson on top form
in the defence, Pearson in goal was rarely troubled. The Sharks did let
a goal in but with only a minute to go held on for a fine win.
