Brid Rangers Sharks U9’s 3 v 1 Nafferton AFC.

This under 9’s game was a great advert for football with passing, tackling and commitment coming from both sides. The Sharks were competing well in midfield, which meant that with some good tackles and hold up play by defenders, Jed E-Jones and Sam Jones, Luke Adams in goal was rarely troubled. Slowly Male, Wilson, Fletcher and Pearce took control of midfield and were all starting to link up well with Grosse who was up front. Goal number one came from some neat passing through to the Grosse who muscled his way past two defenders before placing the ball into the net. The second goal was controversy no1, A Nafferton defender fell over in the box and looked to have dragged the ball with his left arm, penalty! up strode Jon Pearce to strike the ball into the net. Nafferton came back strongly and gained a corner, the ball came across it bounced up to hit a Shark player on the stomach/arm, with the Nafferton supporters screaming for a penalty the referee deemed ball to hand play on. The play seemed to get a bit scrappy with some strong tackling from both sides but with a couple of minutes to go Male shot deflected past the keeper to make it 3-1. Still Nafferton had time to attack and with one of the last kicks of the game struck to end a fine match 3-2 to Sharks.

Scorers: Grosse, Pearce, OG.

MOM; All the players played well, Adams in goal had no chance with either goal, but for his unselfish play, tackling back and never say die attitude the man of the match award went to Lewis Grosse.
