Brid Rangers Sharks U9’s 4 v 0 Rangers Panthers 9’s

It is always hard to play against your own club and this was no exception on Sunday when the Sharks played their club mates The Panthers. The first five minutes was a scrappy affair until Dan Wilson picked the ball up in midfield, surged through, and placed the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-0 to Sharks. Sam Jones and Jed Evamy-Jones in the Sharks defence were solid and with Caman Male, Jon Pearce and Wilson beginning to get their game together, most of the game was played in the Panthers half. At the end of a tight first half Pearce played the ball through, Lewis Grosse took it in his stride and placed it passed Jed Blackwell in the Panthers goal to make it 2-0. Lawrence Pearson and James Fletcher came on for the Sharks and after a settling in period, the Sharks began to control the game again. Luke Adams in the Sharks goal, although rarely troubled, saved bravely to keep the score at 2-0 and a great recovery run and tackle by Evamy-Jones ensured no goals against. As the Sharks pushed forward they found Jed Blackwell in the Panthers goal in exceptional form with one particular save that any goal keeper would be proud of, but he had no chance from a shot by Evamy-Jones and a strike from Male that left the final score 4-0 to the Sharks.
