Willerby & Westella A 2 v 2 Rangers Sharks U9’s 2

Rangers Sharks travelled to Hull to play against a team where all the players have signed Schoolboy forms with either Leeds United or Hull City and came away with a creditable 2-2 draw. On an uneven pitch Sharks seemed to be in awe of their opposition and found it hard to get into their stride. Although goalkeeper, Luke Adams, was in fine form it was of no surprise that they were two nil down at half time. The second half was a different matter, leaving the Parents, Manager and Coach proud to be associated with such a great set of players, after a superb come back. Jon Pearce, having his best game of the season, played a through ball to Lewis Grosse he was blocked by the keeper only for the advancing Dan Wilson to poke the ball home. The Sharks were now in full flight and unlucky not to equalize on more than one occasion, yet with Willerby dangerous on the break the Sharks defence had to be alert at all times. The equalizer came from a through ball from Pearce that Grosse latched onto, he was pushed wide and the goal scoring chance looked to have been lost only for him to turn and squeeze the ball in near post. Chances for the winner came for both sides but the game ended in a well-deserved draw. The Sharks players should be congratulated for although not playing to there potential they had the heart and ability to come back against one of the strongest teams in the top U9 division in Hull. Scorers: Wilson, Grosse Squad: Wilson, Grosse, Pearce, Male, Fletcher, Pearson, Jones,Evamy-Jones, Adams.

MOM; The whole Team – superb attitude and commitment.
