RANGERS WIN AWARD FROM EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE COUNCIL

Bridlington Rangers JFC has been recognized as an outstanding junior sports club at an awards ceremony last week. Bridlington Rangers JFC was formed in 1979 and has gone from strength to strength throughout its history and now caters for around 200 boys and girls from U7-UI6 in 15 teams. Club president John Gibson and treasurer Ken Rennoldson traveled to County Hall, Beverley where Rangers were one of eight junior clubs nominated for the East Riding of Yorkshire Council's Junior Sports Club of the Year Award at the East Riding of Yorkshire Council's 2000 Sports Awards ceremony. Although the top prize eluded them, that accolade went to Driffield RUFC's junior Section, Rangers were classed as "a club with an excellent child protection policy" and "strong and well attended coaching sessions that have led to numerous young players making it through to School of Excellence and professional football standards.
Mr. Gibson told the Free Press: "This is probably the proudest moment of the club's 21 years history and as a founder member the recognition means that a lot of hard work by players, parents, managers and officials has at last been rewarded. "
The club has now almost reached the point of excellence, something for which everybody connected with the club can be justifiably proud; the strength of the club was shown before Christmas when 350 attended the club's Christmas party at Leisure World." Mr. Gibson concluded by stating the club's motto: "To win fairly and lose with honour."
