A PROUD RECORD
The policy of Bridlington Rangers is to
develop the skills of it's players to the maximum level. Each and every player
has the opportunity to learn the game and progress, if they wish to a higher
level of football, if they have the ability to do so. Players of different
abilities are made to feel welcome and comfortable within the Club.
When players are signed by professional Clubs there is, of course, a tremendous
feeling of satisfaction felt by Committee members and especially Managers
who have coached those players. In this respect Rangers has an outstanding
record. The Club has a number of players at the Scarborough School of Excellence
and with York City F.C. A remarkable achievement was to have three former
players included in the England Under 21 side when it played Sweden at the
McAlpine Stadium, Huddersfield in 1998. The players are Richard Cresswell
(Sheffield Wednesday), Curtis Woodhouse (Sheffield United) and Lee Morris
(Derby County). Could this be a record for a Junior Club? It may have happened
before but it seems highly unlikely. Danny Brunton, a former Rangers player,
has recently signed professional forms for Scarborough F.C. Richard Cresswell
signed for Leicester City on 1st September 2000 for a transfer fee of £750,000
after spending 18 months at Sheffield Wednesday. Before that he was with York
City (£950,000 transfer to Hillsborough). Lee Morris has an ankle injury which
has kept him on the sidelines at Derby for nearly a year. His previous club
was Sheffield United where his father, Colin Morris, played for many seasons.
There are other outstanding players on the Rangers books who could also make
the grade as professionals.
