NORTH CAVE v BRIDLINGTON RANGERS
Graham Waters Plumbing Services Ltd Brid Rangers travelled
away again today in what they where expecting to be a tough tie against
North Cave. In the opening few minutes North Cave where that little bit
quicker to the ball than Rangers and when a short back pass left the Rangers
keeper scrambling for a 50 - 50 ball, North Caves forward dived in to see
the ball home. After a long stoppage for treatment to the Rangers keeper
following the challenge the game got underway. This sparked life into Rangers
and with in 5mins Rangers had leveled when a lovely weighted through ball
from Ian Midgley sent Rob Waters through to slip the ball under the advancing
keeper. Rangers then played some fine flowing football, one and two touch
passing which left North Cave chasing shadows for long periods in the game.
After a great move involving most of the team, Rangers went further ahead
when Waters broke free and neatly placed the ball past the keeper. Rangers
went further ahead when Danny Gordon made it three for Rangers inside 30mins.
Adam Wright, Sean Tyers, Jack Tye and Ian Midgley all dominated play in
the midfield and through this domination created the chance for Waters to
blast home his hat-trick before half time.
The second half saw much of the same from a determined Rangers side, Peter
Jones and Tom Parr strong as ever in the center of defense and backed up
well by Andy clay and Jamie Osborne. Rangers fifth came after Waters left
the field injured, his replacement Leyland then had his first two attempts
on goal blocked and his third touch saw him square the ball across the goal
for Wright to dummy and Gordon to blast his second home. Then some fantastic
passing and moving from all the team saw Rangers get their sixth when Leyland's
work in midfield saw him receive a well weighted pass and he slipped the
shot around the keeper. Stuart King in the Rangers net was not trouble much
after the opening 10mins until Rangers where down to 10 men with an injury
to Midgley, North Cave broke and a superb diving save by King tipped the
ball around the post. Rangers Crozier and Train joined the game late on
and Rangers cruised home playing some of the best football they have played
to win this match comfortably.
Final Score: North Cave 1 v 6 Bridlington Rangers
MOM:- Whole team for a brilliant team effort.
COACHES COMMENTS:- After going a goal down Rangers heads could have dropped but they didn't, they kept battling for every ball, barley giving North Cave a chance to control the ball. Well played to every play today really was a fantastic TEAM effort.
