ENDIKE EAGLES v BRIDLINGTON RANGERS

Graham Waters plumbing services sponsored Bridlington Rangers traveled to Hull today to play the only team who last season they didn’t beat. Starting strongly Rangers carved open a couple of half chances for Rob Waters and New player Jamie Brown, but their shots didn’t beat the keeper. It wasn’t until the 13th minute that Rangers took the lead when a break from midfield involving Ian Midgley saw Sean Tyers chase down a 50 – 50 ball with the Endike keeper, and bravely blocking the attempted clearance Tyers netted Rangers first. From the Endike kickoff Rangers won the ball and a neat through ball released Waters who round the keeper at pace to net Rangers second within 30 seconds of the first. Rangers then began to play some neat passing football, linking play well from defense to midfield and with the forwards, Waters could have made it three but his next two chances where just wide of the target.

On 25mins Endike got a goal back when a shot was just slipped under the advancing Rangers keeper. This spurred Endike on who then had a 10minute period of pressure which Tom Parr, Peter Jones along with Andy Clay and Jamie Osborne dealt with well in the Rangers defense. It Was Rangers though who went in at half time on a high when a high ball was launched into the box and Jamie Brown headed home Rangers third on 43mins.

Rangers came out in the second half playing some good one and two touch football and began to play around the ever frustrated Endike team, and 8minutes into the half a ball by Danny Gordon to Brown saw him chink inside and drive an unstoppable shot from 25yards out across the Endike goal to further increase Rangers lead. A heated second half saw Rangers and Endike have some heated exchanges but Rangers skipped the challenges and played the better football and netted their fifth 23mins into the half when Tom Parr tapped in from 2 yards after a well delivered corner from Brown only needed the deftest of touches to score.

Endike by this time where playing for pride and still threatened the Rangers net but during the half a series of determined and strong saves by Stuart King kept Endike out. Michael Train and Scott Lapworth joined the game midway through the half, both coming back from injury slipped into the team well. Lapworth linking up well and Train strong as ever at right back. Not to be out done Rangers went back on the offensive and cross from Lapworth saw Midgley head home Rangers sixth and final goal of the game on the 40th minute.

FINAL SCORE:- ENDIKE EAGLES 1 v 6 BRIDLINGTON RANGERS

COACHES COMMENTS:- This was again a strong team performance, when every player played their heart out for the club, and at times under some difficult circumstances kept a mainly cool head. Rangers today showed that they are a good footballing side. A great debut from Jamie Brown along with come backs by Scott Lapworth and Michael Train showed the depth of squad that Rangers now have to draw on.

MOM:- Ian Midgley who battled hard and lead by example working tirelessly through out the game characterizing everything the whole team where about today.
