THORPE PARK CELTIC V BRIDLINGTON RANGERS

Graham Waters’s plumbing services and Osborne Building Services sponsored Brid Rangers travelled to Hull today in shier league encounter with Thorpe Park. A difficult pitch to play on and a determined Thorpe Park team caught Rangers sleeping when a strike on goal with in two minutes let them take the lead. Rangers with a re shuffled pack this week due to injuries and absentees and the team took a little while to gel. Even though they where behind Rangers played with confidence and passed the ball around Thorpe Park and on 11 minutes drew level when a slick pass by Alan Leyland set up Rob Waters to slip the ball home and score Rangers first. Rangers then piled on the pressure, Leyland breaking down the right and Tye crossing the ball but the final touch couldn't put the ball in the net for Rangers. Captain Andy Clay led from the back directing play and with the help of Tom Parr, Ian Midgley and Micheal Train Rangers defence looked as strong as ever.

It wasn't until 18mins had gone that Rangers took the lead with a wonder strike from Sean Tyers, a long diagonal ball from Tye cut back from the bye line, saw Tyers launch an unstoppable volley from 20 yards out into the Thorpe Park net, 2-1 to Rangers.

More pressure in the half from Rangers then saw another stunning goal, Sam Gray on his Rangers debut, skipped passed the tackles and with a neat one two with Tyers and Midgley he broke at pace down the left wing, cut into the box and netted Rangers third on 37mins.

Rangers looked comfortable until a back pass was picked up and a free kick given 6 yards out, Thorpe Park took their chance and netted their second . HT Thorpe Park 2 v 3 Brid Rangers.

The second half saw Stuart King tested early on but great goal keeping and strong defending kept the score the same until Adam Wrights strong and powerful header from a Jack Tye corner saw Rangers go further ahead. Rangers where awarded and free kick and Micheal Trains free kick whistled just over the bar. Danny Gordon then joined the game and neat inter play saw Rob Waters net his second of the game. Rangers where the dominant force in this game and as Danny Bint joined the game Tom Parr scored another from another Tye corner late on in the half.

FINAL SCORE: THORPE PARK CELTIC 2 v 6 BRID RANGERS

Man of the Match :- Sam Gray for his hard work and determined wing play on his debut.

COACHES COMMENTS:- This was a good team performance and leaves Rangers in second place coming up to the Christmas break, a strong team performance gave us the win, well played everyone.
