HULL BOYS SUNDAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE
U18'S 3rd Division

SUNDAY 7th FEB 2005

Graham Waters Plumbing Services and Osborne Building Services sponsored Bridlington Rangers where at home this week against 2nd placed Endike Eagles.

Rangers started the brighter today, faster to the ball and more determined than ever. Andy Clay and Adam Wright battled with Garth Young through out the game in the midfield, winning most balls and it was one of the these tackles that laid the ball back for Tom Parr to get his shooting boots on and neatly lob the Endike keeper with a 35 yard drive.

Rangers continued to press and nearly went further ahead with Danny Gordon and Alan Leyland combing well, Ben Towers skipped through the Endike defence and powered a shot which was saved well.

After catching Endike offside numerous occasions Rangers went behind when a four man Endike attack appeared to be behind the Rangers back four but play was allowed to go on and they finished well.

HT 1-1.

Rangers kept pressing and a ball in from the left saw Andy Clay put Rangers back into the lead just after half time. Train and Midgley tackled hard and began to look comfortable on the ball backed up with Parr and Jones at the back. Rangers went close again with a darting run from Young but in a tackle that followed he was injured and left the field, and will probably take no further part this season.

On came Danny Bint and he livened up the midfield linking well with Danny Gordon and Midgley on the left. The game turned again this week on another close call when Endike broke clear and netted their second of the afternoon. Rangers still believed they could win the game an with 15mis left a determined run form Midgley led to Gordon breaking down the left and scoring form the narrowest of angles.

In the final minutes of the match Endike and Rangers players where both desperate to either win or draw the game level and after an outburst Endike where down to 10 men.

Rangers swapped keeper and after along delay Endike chipped a free kick into the box which was nodded home to level the score.

FINAL SCORE:- BRID RANGERS 3 V 3 ENDIKE EAGLES

COAHES COMMENTS:- This was one of our strongest performances in which we didn’t get all the points, losing Jamie Osborne, Jack Tye, Rob Waters, Sean Tyers on the day before through injury, showed what depth we have in the squad to come out and grind a result out against an in form Endike showed some true steel. Well played everyone.

MOM:- Ben Towers a very versatile player who played in numerous positions today and worked as hard as anyone for the team, well played.

Match Ball sponsors: Morrison’s supermarkets.
