BRID RANGERS v HEDON RANGERS

Bridlington Rangers entertained a tough Hedon team today who narrowly took the spoils the last time these teams met a few weeks ago, Rangers needed a win to leap frog Hedon in the league to take second place and keep up with Cottingham.

With the late arrival of a few players Rangers started the game slowly and it was Hedon who looked hungry for the win, pressing Rangers hard for every ball and winning a lot of the first time balls. Hedon netted the first goal of the game on 8mins but it was disallowed for offside and then another 6mins later again which was offside. With the score still 0-0 it was Rangers who knew they had had a let off and now started to pass the ball around well and from a Danny Gordon run down the right came a Rangers attack and goal, but again it was disallowed for offside. Finally on 26mins Rangers took the lead with a diagonal ball in saw Rangers neatly take the lead.

Hedon where not going to take this lightly and leveled the scores 10mins later with a well driven 20 yard drive. Rangers defence of Parr, Train and Osborne worked hard to limit Hedon to long range shooting and King in the Rangers net was upto the challenge today.

Rangers took the lead again with a lovely clinical finish by Waters with minutes to go until half time but again Hedon leveled and both teams went in at half time level.

HT 2-2

The second half saw Gordon and Captain Midgley fire up the team, Wright and Bint began to win the ball in the midfield and Bints distribution was second to none. 12mins into the half Parr popped up to head home Rangers third from a good in swinging corner. Man of the moment Ben Towers then went on a dazzling run sweeping past four Hedon players and calmly netted Rangers fourth 30mins into the half. Sam Grey and Garth young joined the game this half both working hard and creating plenty of chances for Brid but the fifth goal wouldn’t come. Hedon never gave up and with two minutes to go scrambled home a lifeline from a corner, but it was Brid who then controlled play well from the re start and went onto take the win.

FINAL SCORE :- BRID RANGERS 4 V 3 HEDON RANGERS
