HULL BOYS SUNDAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE
U18'S 3rd Division

Sun 30th Jan 2005

Graham Waters Plumbing Services and Osborne Building services sponsored Brid Rangers entertained Hessle Sporting Club this week with a reverse fixture as most of the pitches in Hessle where out of action due to the weather.

Both teams started brightly and the game was balanced well until Hessle took the lead on 15mins with a low far post drive beat the Rangers defence. Rangers began to press more, Waters and Towers up front pushed for the equaliser and when a well driven shot was hand balled on the line Rangers where awarded a penalty. Tom Parr stepped up a casually as ever placed the ball low to the left to level the scores on 28mins.

The game was starting to swing Rangers way but in last third of the field it was proving difficult for Rangers to get their shots away with a sturdy well disciplined defence from Hessle. It was a break from a series of Rangers corners which led to Hessle taking the lead on 38mins.

HT:- Brid Rangers 1-2 Hessle Sporting Club

At HT Rangers switched the play moving Midgley to the strikers roll and introducing Sam Grey on the left wing, this had an immediate effect and with Rangers bringing Jack Tye on the right more into the game they looked a more balanced team.

Rangers pressed forward and levelled the score when a driving run from Midgley saw Rangers draw level on 53mins. Stuart King in the Rangers net commanded his defence of Parr, Jones, Train and Osborne who all had great games today, the Hessle midfield started to get on top of Rangers and in the 73min took the lead again but an ever determined Rangers team never gave up and after hitting the post and cross bar levelled the score 5mins later through Jack Tye.

FINAL SCORE:- BRID RANGERS 3 v 3 HESSLE SPORTING CLUB

Man of the Match Tom Parr for a an outstanding performance at the heart of the Rangers defence.

Coaches comments:- This was a hard game with Hessle down to 10 men so early on, we lacked a little inventiveness today but our quality came through in the end, even though our overall performance was a little below par we still remain un-beaten in the league since the first day of the season which in its self is an achievement. Well tried everyone we can now look forward to this weeks clash with Endike Eagles.
