HULL BOYS SUNDAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE U18’S DIV 3.

BRID RANGERS V THORPE PARK CELTIC

This was always going to be a hard game this week, Thorpe Park are a good team and Brid Rangers where struggling to have 11 men, due to injuries suspensions and players away. As kick off approached Rangers had 11.

It was Thorpe Park who where the stronger team in the opening exchanges hitting the bar and the post twice but a resolute Captain Ian Midgley and Adam Wright where big players today and then began to stamp their authority onto the game. Luke Croziers first start at left back was impressive making the tackles and working hard for the team. Rangers first goal today was a stunning strike by in form Ben Towers on 8minutes which settled the Rangers nerves and then they began to play some lovely football. Michael Train backed Jack Tye well on the right as did Crozier with Towers on the left. On 21mins Towers again skipped through the Thorpe Park team and netted his second. Rangers where now the stronger team and the long ball and wing play caused many problems to Thorpe Park and it was Waters who netted Rangers third just before half time. Towers, Gordon and Waters all had chances but Rangers couldn’t take a bigger lead in at half time.

Jack Tye left the field in the second half injured, with only 5mins played and Rangers went down to 10 men, but played like they had 12. Thorpe Park pressed Rangers and a great strike brought an even better save from Stuart King to prevent them scoring. Towers then went onto complete his first Rangers Hat-trick with another lovely goal.

Thorpe Park pulled a goal back with a rare error in the Rangers net but Waters from the re start powered home Rangers fifth of the game.

In a scramble in the box as the half drew to a close Thorpe Park pulled a goal back, but a tired Rangers team continued to work hard and kept the scores the same.

FINAL SCORE :- Brid Rangers 5 v 2 Thorpe Park Celtic

MOM:- Ben Towers for his hard work up front and in defence, the three goals topped off his best game in a Rangers shirt this season, well played.

COACHES COMMENTS:- A superb win today, playing the second half with 10 men made the whole team gel and work hard for each other, Cottingham drew this week and so we have now narrowed their lead by two points and can over take Heddon if we beat them in a couple of weeks time, well played to everyone this week.
