ARTIC RANGERS v BRIDLINGTON RANGERS
Graham Waters Plumbing Services Ltd and Scott's Butchers
sponsored Brid Rangers took the lead within a minute of the kickoff, when
a great through ball saw Rob Waters place the ball under the advancing keeper.
Rangers worked very hard today in some cold and very windy conditions and
they continued to dominate play passing the ball around well and creating
many chances, shotley after the first goal Rob Waters again had the ball
in the net but the goal was disallowed. Adam Wright and Tom Parr combined
along with Jack Tye and Ian Midgley to score Rangers second when a good
layoff saw Tom Parr neatly place the ball home from 18yards out. James Peacock
started today's game and helped keep up the Rangers pressure on Artic. Peter
Jones and Andy Clay led a strong back line which played many perfect offside
traps to frustrate the Artic forwards and stop Stuart King in the Rangers
net hardly having to make a save in the first half. Rob Waters nipped in
and netted his second and Rangers third on 30mins and that's how the score
line stayed until half time. The second half came and again within the opening
minute Rob Waters broke free but a snapped shot saw the ball fly over the
bar. Artic then pulled a goal back and started to put Rangers under a little
pressure , but Rangers back four stepped up and stopped them getting through.
Rangers then went further ahead mid way through the half when Waters first
shot was deflected off the keeper and he followed up to bag another Hattrick.
Garth Young joined the game at half time and was a constant threat combing
well with Rob Waters and then with Matthew Strathern as the game progressed.
Micheal Harvey replaced Ian Midgley and worked hard on the left. Artic drew
a goal back when a pile driver of a shot blasted home for 18 yards leaving
the Rangers keeper no chance. Stuart King had more to do this half making
three superb strong saves when asked , this after barley touching the ball
in the first half, Jamie Osborne and Michael Train took control in defence
and always looked likely to win the ball back for the team.
Final Score: Artic Rangers 2 v 4 Bridlington Rangers
