BRIDLINGTON RANGERS v AFC
HOLTBY
Graham Waters Plumbing Services Ltd and Scott's Butchers
sponsored Brid Rangers took on an improved Holtby side who elected to have
a strong wind behind them in the first half, but it was Rangers who scored
the first goal after a period of Holtby pressure led to a Rangers break
and Jack Tye to open the scoring. Rangers had numerous other chances to
increase the lead but Holtbys goalkeeper played outstanding and kept the
score down. Holtby themselves had a few good chances but two superb saves
by Stuart King kept the score 1-0. Holtby pressed and with 22mins gone score
when a very strong wind assisted corner swung in wickedly and went in the
Rangers net. Not to be put off by this Rangers battled hard and Ian Midgley
increased the Rangers lead on 35mins with a 12 yard drive. Rangers looked
the strong team in the second half and had long periods of possession, Peter
Jones and Tom Parr pushed forward and James Peacock who was ever present
up front made it 3 for Rangers from close range. Adam Wrights first goal
of the season came when a corner floated in towards the far post was controlled
and passed low and into the net. Jamie Osborne and Micheal Train looked
solid and Garth Young showed some silky skills up front and was only denied
himself by some last ditch defending. Rob Waters had a frustrating game
but created many chances for the team and was unlucky not to score.
