Bridlington Rangers v Artic Rangers
Graham Waters Plumbing Services and Scotts Butchers sponsored Bridlington Rangers took the game to Artic from the first whistle, Rob Waters and David O'Grady getting shots close but the Artic keeper and defence stood firm. Rob Waters then had two more chances and blasted Rangers into the lead with one. Further Rangers pressure saw Micheal Harvey and Jack Tye make good runs but Artic where proving good opponents and difficult to break down. Adam Wright and Andrew Clay opened up Artic but a good back line caught Rangers offside a few times. Artic leveled the scores midway through the half and then had their best period of the game but firm defending from Peter Jones and Tom Parr stopped the attacks and backed up by Stuart King always looked confident. Rangers then struck twice in two minutes firstly a good goal from Waters and then from a deep corner Micheal Harvey blasted home to make it 3-1 at half time. Micheal Train and Ian Midgley worked hard at the back and made some timely tackles as Artic battled to get themselves back in the game and they did 5 mins into the half. Rangers struck back within minutes through a fine individual goal from Tom Parr, and then Waters added two more to put the game beyond Artic. Jamie Osborne and Jamie Carter joined the game and so did Wayne Mclintock for Adam Wright. Ian Midgley bravely went into a 50- 50 ball with the Artic keeper and shortly afterwards came off injured to be replaced by Matthew Strathern making his Rangers debut. Strathern created some good chances but couldn't make the final shot count. As the game drew to a close Artic scored a conciliation goal but Rangers never really looked like losing the game.
Final Score: Bridlington Rangers 6 v 3 Artic Rangers
Rangers MOM. Jack Tye for his determined wing and defensive play through out the game.
Coaches Comments: This was always a potential
slip up point for Rangers but despite Artics early pressure Rangers fought
hard and came out eventual winners, well played to everyone. This result
sees Rangers go 2 points clear at the top and with a game in hand over second
placed Thorpe Park.
Next week see us play Preston for the first time away from home.
