Bridlington Rangers v Heddon Rangers
Graham Waters Plumbing Services and Scotts Butchers sponsored Bridlington Rangers took on Heddon Rangers in a tremendous game of junior football. With the wind blowing across a very heavy pitch both teams battled hard to gain control of the match. Brid Rangers and Heddon canceled each other out for most of the first half but two goals in five minutes just before half time gave Rangers the lead. The first a good through ball from Waters saw Jack Tye neatly chip the advancing keeper and the second came as Waters charged into the box, took the ball wide of the keeper and defender before slotting the ball into the Heddon net. The second half then started with a bang Brid increased their lead when a low Andy Clay shot blasted home from 16 yards out following a period of pressure which led to a corner from which the half cleared ball was put away. From the the re start Heddon began to play some good football and 10mins later pulled two quick goals back, this stunned Brid back to life and Stuart King made two vital saves to prevent Heddon taking the lead just before Waters won a difficult ball in the Heddon box and netted Brid's fourth. Peter Jones, Andrew Clay, Jamie Osborne and Michael Train combined well in the Brid defence and at times the defending was not pretty in worked and Brid took control of the game. Ian Midgley new roll up front worked well with him going close on a couple of occasion's, Tom Parr and Adam Wright fed Micheal Harvey on the left and his telling cross's couldn't quite be converted to make the game safe. Heddon pulled another goal back with 20mins to go but Brid responded well and from a well driven cross, Jack Tye scored the goal of the game with a superb flying volley which gave the Heddon keeper no chance. Matthew Strathern and Luke Crozier joined the match working hard for the team and stopped Heddon getting back into the match. Michael Parr worked hard as well today making some timely tackles and a couple of good firm pass's when required.
Final Score: Bridlington Rangers 5 v 3 Heddon Rangers
Rangers MOM. Jack Tye and Rob Waters both for hard work and great finishing
Coaches Comments: Another three points in a game which both teams had their chance but it was Brid Rangers's finishing which was better on the day. Well played everyone.
